Hot Work Training
Hot work training is offered on Tuesday and Thursday of each week, either at 9 AM or 3 PM. The following information is required:
- Date/Time you wish to attend training
- Number of individuals attending
- Name of each person attending
NOTE: Each session is limited to 10 people.
Please contact the Fire Marshal's Office at 275-3243 to schedule a time for training.
Hot work training is REQUIRED before any hot work permit will be issued.
Once qualified, the responsible person can then contact EH&S at least 48 hours in advance of any hot work activities to request a permit. In the event of an emergency, EH&S shall be contacted before performing any hot work, and the responsible person shall wait until they hear back from EH&S with a verbal approval. For emergency or off-hours permit requests, the individual requesting the permit shall contact Public Safety at 275-3333.
Information needed to request a hot work permit are as follows:
- Location for where hot work will be performed (building/room, etc)
- Date(s) needed
- Hours that work will be performed
- Names of all individuals involved in the hot work
- Type of work being done (i.e., welding, cutting, soldering, brazing, etc.)
Hot work permits shall be posted at the hot work site in a conspicuous location or be kept with the individual doing the work, if there are multiple locations.
